So I pretty much blew this one. I thought I might be able to just 'feel' my pace and HR and not need to check my HRM constantly - I thought wrong. I first checked my watch at 174. I continued to try to 'feel' it but to no avail. I wound up with 3 miles at 10:28 avg pace and 166 avg HR.

I don't think my avg HR of 166 is a total waste though. There's an article in the new issue of Runners' World that calls the aerobic zone from 75-85% of max HR. If that's the case, I'm well within Zone 1... :) I think I'll go back to my old strategy for my 5-miler tomorrow...
