My first week is behind me now. I have to say, I'm feeling pretty good. I put in 30 miles this week. Today's run was 8 miles at 11:04 avg pace and 161 avg HR. I guess I got what I asked for yesterday...
Mile Time Avg Max
1- 11:12 155 166
2- 11:12 157 160
3- 12:03 161 170
4- 11:05 159 165
5- 11:06 161 168
6- 11:15 165 168
7- 11:09 166 170
8- 10:25 169 173 (oops)
Mile 8 is all downhill and I was also kind of out of it. I decided not to take my Fuel Belt, even though I was going to go over the recommended cut off of 60 min. I just didn't really feel like carrying it today. I make the mistake of wearing pants even though the weather was pretty nice. There were definitely times I was glad I did, but also times I was very hot. The Peachtree corridor is a part of my route I hit twice for about 2 miles each. The wind was very strong (and cold) and coming straight at me on that part. I also felt very 'heavy' for the first two miles - my legs, my arms, feet, everything. It felt like I was having trouble with deep breaths also, dispite my normal HR. There were a lot of ups and downs, which is to be expected.
So I put in a 13 mile weekend. Not extrememly significant until I realized it's almost exactly 1/3 the amount I'll be putting in for Goofy's Race and a Half. 13 X 3 = 39 --- oh, I've got a long way to go...
I am starting to think my PR for the 10K can be broken in February. My best is 54:17 and I've got my sights set on it. I haven't done any running near my lactate threshhold, so it may be interesting but we'll see how it goes. That time was set at my previous state referred to as 'the best shape of my life'. It just hit me that I'll already be moved up an age group for that race. Here I come, 30-34 bracket!
Current Weight: 185.6 (yesterday before dinner)
Some notes on weight: I've been religiously tracking my daily calories on The Daily Plate (http://www.thedailyplate.com/). It's a free site that seems to have all I need to do so. I went through last week with about a 9000 calorie deficit from homeostasis at 188. This was definitely not planned but I just couldn't take in enough. Today I started supplementing my calories with Boost nutrition drink. It's like Ensure or whatever else. It doesn't taste very good but I can't go on losing 3 lbs per week.
