Mmmm...Endurox. Today's run was very frustrating. I felt pretty good actually, but my HRM was crapping out on me. I don't know if the battery in the strap is about dead or what. There were a couple times that I looked down at my watch and it said '00'. Now they advertise this thing as 'EKG-Accurate'. If that's true, I died twice on my run tonight. At any rate, it really skewed the data. I am showing 5.03 miles at 160 avg HR and 11:20 avg pace. Oh, and I jumped the gun on hitting my lap button. Nike+ is truly a wonderful invention but it can't read my mind yet. When I have runs of even numbers, it will typically announce every time I've gone another mile, at which point I hit the button on my watch. Well.....with odd numbered runs (e.g. tonight), it also kindly announces when you've reached halfway, which was 2.5 miles. I got so excited to hear the lovely woman's voice, I neglected to actually listen to her and hit the button at 2.5 miles.
Anyway, here's the breakdown:
Mile Time Avg Max
1- 11:09 144 186
2- 11:27 161 166
3- 05:49 166 176 (half mile)
4- 05:52 166 168 (half mile)
5- 11:35 168 173
6- 13:04 162 178
So it's obvious that I'm still having trouble settling into a groove with the right pace and HR but I'm sure that will come. My body just needs to realize that this level of activity is not going away and I'm sure I'll adjust.
Also, I just want to point out for my own edification that I don't pause my watch when I'm waiting to cross the street but I do pause Nike+. My 5 mile route has many streets to cross and, being that I'm running at night, I tend to wait for the 'walk' sign. This is a self-preservation habit that will continue until it's light outside when I run. Not only are drivers in Atlanta a little heavy on the pedal, they also DO NOT PAY ATTENTION. Therefore, I wait.
Tomorrow is quite the busy day. I will run when I get home then it's off to see Spirit of the Marathon. It may not be until Friday morning that I get to writing up tomorrow's 3-miler.
I also have no idea why that stupid Nike+ applet is showing 0.13 miles off. It actually shows up correctly on their site but not here. No clue but it's really bugging me.
