Workout 4: 3-Miler

I wasn't sure I'd be able to sneak this run in before we had to leave to watch Spirit of the Marathon but I did. I actually convinced myself before I left that I would just skimp and do 2.5 miles in the interest of time, but I was able to get all 3 in, mostly because I actually ran a little faster while maintaining my HR average in Zone 1. Hmm... I ended up with 3 miles at 10:55 avg pace and 163 avg HR. Compared to Tuesday (same route, same distance), I was 31 seconds faster for each mile with the same average HR. I'm calling it a fluke but I'll take it anyway. I had a Coke Zero much later in the day that I usually do - maybe that was it.

Here's the breakdown:
Mile Pace Avg Max
1- 10:53 159 170
2- 10:35 164 170
3- 11:24 165 173

There's a beast of a hill on mile 3 and, if not obvious, mile 2 is almost completely flat.

Oh, and the movie. It was quite inspirational - and funny. I definitely got a kick out of some of the comments by those runners profiled. I know Jenny did too. Especially the parts that talked about the "wiring problem" in our brains.

Off tomorrow! 5 Saturday, 8 Sunday.
